From Dorm Life To Apartment Life: What To Keep and What to Donate

Graduating from college is an exciting moment. You have studied extremely hard for the past four years and are finally witnessing all of your work come to fruition. With graduating comes many new life changes. You will probably start a new job and will need to move on from your dorm life existence into a new place. After living the dorm life, it can be a little difficult to decide what you should keep and what you should donate. Especially because you probably have more space in your new place whether it be a home or an apartment. Many of your items can be donated or given to someone who is about to embark on their journey into the college experience. Beltline and Security Stor-Alls has compiled a list of what to keep and what to donate to help you. Keep reading to find out more.

Bedroom Essentials

Dorm rooms typically come equipped with a twin size bed, but chances are you may be wanting an upgrade in your new place. So, any of your bed items can be donated. For example, mattress toppers, gently used sheets, comforters, duvet/duvet covers and pillows may be something you decide to leave behind. However, if you purchased items like a desk lamp, desk chair, nightstand, fan or space heater, you may want to take them with you.

Bathroom Belongings

Kiss those shower shoes goodbye! They are officially a thing of the past. But, you may want to bring along any items you purchased that can still be of use. If you are wanting to save yourself some money, you may continue to use the same bath mat, hair dryer, toothbrush holder, soap holder and other items like that.

Kitchen

For those of you who are lucky enough to have a dorm that comes equipped with a kitchen, there are definitely some things you are going to want to take and some you are going to want to donate. Items like pots, pans, knife sets, baking trays, crockpots and other cooking essentials that can run on the pricier side are all a good idea to keep for your new place. However, if they are gently used and you want something newer they can definitely be donated.
