10 Ideas for Post-Thanksgiving Fun!

10 Ideas for Post-Thanksgiving Fun!

We know that all of the cooking and preparing for Thanksgiving Dinner can leave you drained- both physically and mentally. Espeicially for those brave enough to fight those Black Friday crowds! After all is said and done, it may be difficult to even think about how you and your family will spend your time these upcoming weeks. Here are just a few ideas to motivate your mind in time for the holidays!

1. Eat Leftovers

Don’t let all of your hard work in the kitchen go to waste! Get the family together a few times to polish off the leftover dishes and minimize the clutter by packaging the leftovers in smaller containers. Be mindful of dishes that can easily spoil and try to eat them first. Leftover turkey is lean and perfect for in-office or at home lunches! Try to find creative recipes for sandwiches, wraps, salads, and more to create brand new dishes from cost-effective and convenient leftovers.

2. Shop Thanksgiving Decor

True, you are ready to pack up the harvest decor and bring out the jingle bells! However, most stores will put their largest discounts on Thanksgiving decor as soon as the day after Thanksgiving! You could save yourself a little time and a lot of money for next year by taking advantage of these great deals! Just imagine how exciting unpacking your discounted items will be come next fall !

3. Football!

If you’re in the south, there’s no way you will forget this one. However, it would not be an after-Thanksgiving countdown without mentioning all of the football games! Have a few friends over and root for your favorite team, or enjoy dinner at your favorite local diner while your team is playing!

4. Write Down Thanksgiving Memories

While it is still fresh on your mind, jot down some of your favorite memories from this year’s Thanksgiving festivities. Keep it somewhere safe and read it next year to your family, or start a tradition of doing this every year as a creative way to look back on how things change over the years!

5. Take a Walk in Nature

It is so easy to spend most of your time inside a mall or a grocery store this time of year. Don’t put your health on the backburner and take time for a walk through a local park. You will enjoy the colors of late November and early December and be able to clear your mind and ease stress before the Christmas season officially begins.

6. Go See a Movie

Thanksgiving is a peak season for box office hits. Check out your local theater’s listings and plan a date night or family night. The short break from the stress will be fun for everyone. Don’t forget the popcorn!

7. Take Some “Me” Time

All of the wonderful chaos surrounding Thanksgiving leaves only one person left for you to think about- yourself. Take a day and go to the hair salon or nail salon. Do something for yourself! You might even treat yourself to a good book to read or a glass of wine with a good friend.

8. Have a Mini Harvest Campfire

Invite all of your friends, or keep it an intimate family affair! Dress for the occasion and enjoy the cool air around a campfire with those you love. Include some great music and delicious campfire food. Be sure to stock up on the hot chocolate and don’t forget the marshmallows!

9. Write Letters to Santa

Thanksgiving is over and for many, this means it is time to put up the Christmas tree! Whether you choose to pick a live tree from a local tree farm or like the convenience of an artificial tree, set aside an evening just for tree decorating. You may want to bake cookies, make handmade ornaments, or pop in a Christmas movie to get in the spirit. Create memories that will last forever!
